MASCARA OCULTA
MASCARA OCULTA
A woman's face, cropped hard to one side, carries the sugar-skull markings of the calavera beneath a crown of red flowers — blue skin, red lips, and a flat yellow ground that pushes the figure forward. Soriano's watercolor-and-digital technique gives the surface an airbrushed glow, contours dissolving into spirals of hair and ornament. The title MASCARA OCULTA — hidden mask — leaves open which face is the disguise.

About Jonas Soriano
-
Jonas Soriano
Jonas Soriano is a visual artist based in Mexico City who works between watercolor and digital finishing, arriving at airbrushed surfaces where line dissolves into glow.
His subjects are drawn from Mexican iconography — the calavera, the Catrina, the hidden mask, the jungle cat — each rendered in a near single-hue palette that turns a familiar emblem spectral.
Latin America Gallery represents three unique works from his 2018 series.
